Hello from the Orkney Islands. I arrived this morning after an adventure in the Hebridees when I could not find a place to stay because everything was all booked up. I had taken a tour of the deserted island of St Kilda, which was great fun and interesting. There never actually was a saint named Kilda and nobody knows how it got that name. The islanders used to eat gannets and the small island is littered with over a thoulsand gannet food storage houses. About 50 years ago the last of the once populated islanders asked the government to be evacuated. After the tour of the island I ended up in the isle of Lewis without anywhere to go, but luckily I got on board a freit ship and got my own bunk room and a ride to Ullapool where I took the first bus to inverness and from there the bus to Thurso. Spent the night in Thurso and took the ferry to Stormness this morning. I am going to go diving and look at some ship recks on Tuesday morning. Bye - Micah
